Member retention [Apr. 5th, 2007|12:23 pm]
Lions Clubs International

Hello Lions,
Question for you all: I'm sure you're in the same boat as we are. We have a large number of members on paper, but a much smaller group of members who attend meetings and events regularly.
I'd love to write a letter to those members to tell them we miss them and would love to see them come back to meetings, but I'm not sure exactly how to word it. I fear inadvertently offending people.
I was thinking of using a spring analogy...like we're ready to bloom, or it's a time for rebirth... Or maybe something along the lines of how farmers rotate their fields to let some rest, and now that you've rested, it's time to come back.
Has anyone done this? Any suggestions on how to phrase this?

I wouldn't. I'd organise a social event - not a fundraiser - go bowling or have a meal out and invite them along. Invite friends you want as prospective members too, and while your're out having fun tell 'em you miss 'em at meetings.
